WELCOME TO THE EGYPTIAN LANGUAGE REVIVAL PAGE

Every month, there will be a tip, a web site posting, and a lesson, which will cover both Hieroglyphic and Coptic. In order to ensure that you pursue the curriculum as vigorously as you can, please do the assignments recommended at your own discretion.

Most importantly, share as much as you care for the upkeep of our heritage.

Even though the Egyptian language mostly survives as the liturgical language in the Coptic Church today, it is far from being a religious language. It is the language of our heritage. It is the language on the tombs, in the scrolls, on the stones, on everything truly Egyptian.

If you want to honor your true Egyptian heritage, please join the cause and help revive the language that has unfortunately been lost for centuries.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE recruit more people, every Egyptian you know.

  1. Hi, I think your idea is very important and as an Egyptian myself, I believe the events of the last 18months require a return of egypt to its roots.
I would like to see ancient Egyptian revived, just as Hebrew was from defunct language to national mother tongue

  2. Hello, it is great to see such enthusiasm among the Egyptian young people excited for an ancestral revival.

In my opinion, our country stands for everything good in the past. The golden age being the ancient pyramid builders and the rusty age being now, and it has almost EVERYTHING to do with the language spoken then and the language spoken now.

  3. If you can please spread the word and encourage fellow enthusiasts to spread awareness, publicity, or even contribute to the content on the blog, that will be HIGHLY appreciated. Thank you!

  4. Sorry I cannot understand the question. How can we do what exactly?

  5. I meant that I wanted to know how we can we work effectively to bring back our ancient Egyptian language in the same way that Hebrew was revived from a dead to a living language.

  6. Good question. We certainly have plenty of examples from history where cultures revived their identities after being lost, such as the individual European cultures under the Latin Empire and, most importantly, the example you mentioned of Hebrew.

I think strategically bringing the Egyptian language back will take some time, starting with analyzing those historical precedents.

But in the meantime, I think it is imperative we start a social campaign to revive INTEREST in Hieroglyphics and our DEMAND is teaching Hieroglyphic and/or Coptic in Egyptian schools.
The best place to start this social campaign is probably Facebook, don't you agree?
